Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Sugaring Under Arms.

Gently exfoliate two days before and ensure hair is about 1/4 inch long. Avoid heavy deodorants, topical retinoids, and recent sun exposure. Arrive with clean, dry underarms and notify your technician of sensitivities or recent topical prescriptions.

Sugaring is typically gentler than waxing because the paste adheres only to hair and dead skin. Redness or mild sensitivity can occur briefly, but irritation is usually less severe and resolves faster. Inform your technician of sensitive skin or allergies before treatment.

Ideal hair length is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3–6 mm). Too short hair may not grip, and overly long hair can cause more discomfort. If hair is longer, we’ll trim it for a more comfortable, effective sugaring session.

Sugaring reduces ingrown hairs because it removes hair in the growth direction, lowering breakage. Some clients still experience bumps; consistent exfoliation and gentle moisturizers help prevent them. If ingrowns persist, ask your technician about targeted treatments and home care recommendations.

Most clients return every four to six weeks depending on personal growth cycles. With regular sugaring, hair grows back finer and appointments may be spaced further apart. Your technician will recommend a tailored schedule based on your individual regrowth pattern.

We recommend waiting 24 hours before applying deodorant, especially those with alcohol or fragrances. Freshly sugared skin is more sensitive and prone to irritation or clogging pores. Use a gentle, fragrance-free product afterwards and avoid heavy antiperspirants for one day.
