Season Of Facials Aftercare: First 48 Hours & Weekly Care for Classic Facials
By Gliss Aesthetics | October 1, 2026
If you do one thing after your Season Of Facials appointment in Selma, let it be this: treat your skin like it’s “open” and extra reactive for the next 48 hours. That means no direct sun, no heavy sweating, no hot showers, and no active exfoliants like acids or retinoids. Season Of Facials is a 70-minute session and part of a 3-month plan, so your aftercare matters because it protects the work we just did and keeps your results building month after month.
The first 24 to 48 hours: the rules that keep your glow calm
Right after a classic facial, your skin usually looks brighter because dead surface buildup is gone and hydration is up. It can also be a little pink or feel warm. That’s normal. What throws people off is doing “normal life” things too fast in Central Valley heat, especially if you’re in the sun, in the fields, or commuting on Highway 99 with dust and heat hitting your skin.
Quick 48-hour checklist: Skip direct sun, exercise that makes you sweat, saunas/steam rooms, hot showers on your face, and any exfoliating acids or retinoids.
What I want you to do instead
Wash with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry, don’t rub. Use a lightweight moisturizer and wear SPF 30+ every morning, even if it’s “just errands, ” because UV sneaks in fast here. If you’re outdoors for work, reapply SPF and consider a hat. And please don’t pick at any congestion that comes to the surface. That’s how little bumps turn into long-lasting marks.
Makeup, swimming, and heat exposure timing
If you can, give your skin 12 to 24 hours without makeup so your pores aren’t dealing with extra buildup while everything is settling. If you’re still red or sensitive, wait longer. Hold off on swimming and steam rooms for 48 hours. Chlorine, heat, and sweat can easily trigger irritation right after a facial.
Your first week after Season Of Facials: keep it simple, keep it steady
The first week is where you protect the “clear and calm” look that so many people want from classic facials. I’m big on consistency here. Twice-a-day cleansing is plenty. Over-washing and scrubbing usually backfires, especially if you’re around seasonal dust in Selma or you’re sweating at work.
Keep doing: gentle cleanse morning and night, moisturize, SPF 30+ daily, and drink water like it’s your job.
Avoid for at least a week: facial massage at home, extra exfoliation, harsh scrubs, and stacking actives because you “want faster results.”
If you’re commuting from Fowler, Kingsburg, Reedley, Parlier, or Sanger and you’re in the car a lot, keep SPF in your bag. Sun through a windshield still adds up. The goal is to let your skin stay calm so the improvements you see after each visit actually stick.
The at-home routine I like after classic facials (no complicated shelf required)
You don’t need ten steps to protect a facial. You need the right steps, done consistently. After Season Of Facials, I usually steer people toward a routine that won’t clog pores, won’t sting, and won’t fight what we’re trying to calm down.
Stick to these product types
- Gentle cleanser: fragrance-free and non-stripping.
- Non-comedogenic moisturizer: light but hydrating, especially helpful in the dry, dusty stretches we get in the Central Valley.
- SPF 30+ daily: mineral or broad-spectrum chemical is fine. The best one is the one you’ll actually wear and reapply.
- Calming serum (if I recommended it to you): hydrating options like hyaluronic acid or soothing aloe-based formulas can feel great after a facial.
And yes, I’ll tell you exactly why I’m recommending what I’m recommending. That education piece is a big part of why people keep Season Of Facials on their calendar.
When to text or call me at Gliss Aesthetics (and when it’s just normal)
A little redness, mild sensitivity, and that “extra clean” feeling can be normal right after your facial. What I don’t want you to do is push through something that feels wrong. If you have persistent redness that doesn’t calm down, noticeable swelling, blistering, severe irritation, or any signs of infection, reach out to me.

Staying on schedule for Season Of Facials in Selma: how results build
Season Of Facials is designed as 3 months of customized facials, and the people who see the biggest change are the ones who keep their home care calm and show up consistently. I’ve had clients start before big events like weddings to clear their skin, then keep coming back because they like how steady their skin looks in between visits.
If you’re unsure what to do next, ask me at your appointment. I’ll map out the timing, help you avoid the common mistakes (sun and sweat are big ones around here), and make sure you’re not wasting your time or your money between sessions.
Need a quick aftercare check? Call +16197032238 or email owner@justgliss.com. If you’re heading back out into Central Valley heat or dust, I’ll tell you the simplest way to protect your facial results that day.
